Adam Dennis celebrates the launch of his first solo album

October 28th, 2011
Adam Dennis
New solo album launch

In 1976 a man bought his son an acoustic guitar. At $95 it was more than he could really afford. In the ensuing 35 years, the boy would grow up writing songs on that guitar. Performing with it, seeking solace in it, laughing at parties as he strummed. To him, the Fender F-35 Dreadnought acoustic guitar came to be worth so much more than its original price.

Join Adam Dennis (clearly no longer a boy) as he celebrates the launch of his first solo album, dedicated to his lifelong relationship with one particular construction of timber and steel. Adam will play songs from his back catalogue, relate some anecdotes, and possibly introduce a couple of characters who feature in his musical story.

Aside from the free entertainment, you can order tapas from the menu (Adam highly recommends this!) and enjoy refreshments including Rocky Passes’ own celebrated Syrah.

The outdoor area adjacent to the cellar door offers a wonderful afternoon ambience, with plentiful parking, views to trees, rolling hills and the vineyard.
Whiteheads Creek is just outside Seymour, roughly an hour up the Hume Freeway, or accessible via Yarra Glen and Yea. The scenic drive itself is well worth the trip.

We would love to see you there.

Although the concert is free, we ask that you help us plan our seating and food by calling Rocky Passes 57969366 or email contact@rockypasses.com.au to RSVP. Thank you!

Rocky Passes Syrah 2009 rated 90 by James Halliday

March 10th, 2011

Wine reviewer, James Halliday rates the Rocky Passes Syrah 2009 a 4.5 star wine … 90 points.

Good depth to the colour; a fragrant bouquet of freshly tanned leather and licorice, then a powerful palate with the bouquet aromas superimposed on the black fruit and licorice core. Low allergen. Interesting wine.

14.5% alc. Rating 90 Drink 2020

Rocky Passes winery, near Seymour, Central Victoria, produces unique red wines.

What are tapas?

October 28th, 2010

The name tapas comes from “tapar” – to cover in Spanish. In the past, people would drop in to a bar for a sherry, and the glass would arrive with a piece of bread on top “to keep the flies out”. :-)   Soon, there was a slice of ham or cheese on the bread … and so tapas developed into a multitude of appetiser-sized savoury treats such as chorizos and lemon; sheep’s milk cheese with a drizzle of oil; emapanadas (spiced pork pastries) … marinated white sardines; baby octopus … bunuelos (cauliflower dumplings); oven roasted red peppers and marinated artichokes.

You can eat them as a quick snack before a main meal … or graze for hours with a glass or two of red.
